The self-proclaimed king of comedy in Kenya and Africa, Eric Omondi has been making headlines lately, going by his stance on the ongoing Azimio one Kenya Coalition protests.  The controversial comedian, has been on the frontline, defending the rights of his fellow Kenyans, whom he claims are going through difficult economic times, because of mismatch government priorities.

According to a survey done between March 28th and March 31st 2023, here is what Kenyans feel about Eric Omondi’s activism.

Seventy six percent of Kenyans, feel that Eric Omondi should continue with his protests, eleven percent, urge him to stop with his protests while twelve percent claim he should or should not continue with his protests.

Though known for clout chasing, this time round, fifty percent of Kenyans feel that he has Kenyans interests at heart. Twenty nine percent however, still feel that he may be clout chasing. In addition, twenty one percent of Kenyans are not sure whether he is clout chasing or not.

Seventy nine percent of Kenyans also feel that creatives such as comedians, should use their platforms to defend the rights of their fellow Kenyans, whenever such issues come to limelight. Fifteen percent somehow feel, creatives should address such issues while six percent think creatives should stick to their craft of comedy or any other art they do. As Eric Omondi vows not to quit his protests, what remains wide open, is whether the national government will heed to his demands or not.
